BundleBoneDTN RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

IPNSIG · DELAY / DISRUPTION-TOLERANT NETWORKING

When connections change,
the journey continues.

BundleBone is being developed as a platform for DTN research and development, with plans to support researchers’ own experiments on BundleBone-provided virtual machines.

Start with our permanent DTN Network Reference Implementation: a working network demonstrating potential LunaNet and MarsNet relay operations.

DTN Reference Implementation

A PLATFORM FOR RESEARCH

A permanent reference.
Room for new experiments.

BundleBone is co-located and peered with Internet2.edu, providing a platform for Delay-Tolerant Networking research, development and experimentation.

The Reference Implementation will remain a permanent capability for demonstrating how a DTN network is run and supporting trials of other DTN network and application implementations. Testing with NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN) is planned.

Over time, BundleBone is intended to host additional virtual machines, researchers and experiments beyond the reference network.

Broader researcher access is planned, subject to IPNSIG Board approval of an Acceptable Use Policy.
